In a move aimed at pulling in more serious market participants, Bitonix.io has launched its Prime Access Suite—a new infrastructure layer built for institutional desks, market makers, and high-volume clients.

The suite includes custom API access, dedicated account managers, enhanced security, and a tiered fee structure designed for firms trading more than $25 million a month.

It’s launching at a time when traditional finance continues inching into crypto. Bitonix.io is clearly betting it can offer funds what they’ve been asking for: reliable liquidity, fast execution, and compliance baked in from the start—without making them jump through unnecessary hoops.

“We’ve built Bitonix.io Prime not just for current institutional demand, but for the wave that’s coming,” said Marcus Caine, Head of Institutional Products at Bitonix.io. “From hedge funds and OTC desks to algorithmic trading firms—we’re now fully equipped to support the infrastructure they expect.”

Here’s what’s included:

  • FIX and REST API gateways with low-latency execution
  • 24/7 tech support and onboarding help
  • Tiered maker-taker fees tied to monthly volume
  • Collateral options across crypto, stables, and select fiat
  • Segregated cold wallets and SOC 2 audit readiness

Bitonix.io used to be seen as more of a retail exchange. But starting in mid-2023, it began upgrading its backend. With this launch, it’s now going after accounts in places like London, Singapore, and Dubai—cities that usually stick with bigger names like Coinbase Prime or Binance Institutional.

It’s already seeing traction. Internal figures show $3.4 billion in institutional volume in Q4 2024, up 67% from the year before. That growth came mostly from early testing partners, including prop shops in Hong Kong and Switzerland.

One new feature currently in pilot: dark pool trading for verified Prime clients. This lets firms execute large trades without affecting public order books—a key ask from whales and market-neutral funds.

Bitonix.io is also working its native token LOGX into the institutional side. Clients who hold a minimum monthly threshold get fee rebates and early access to governance votes. It’s a small incentive, but one that could grow if adoption picks up.

Brand recognition is still a hurdle. Many traditional finance players don’t know Bitonix.io yet. But the exchange says it’s working toward ISO 27001 compliance and preparing for MiCA registration in Europe—two boxes institutions increasingly want to see checked.
